Nashik
Panchavati is a sacred and historical area in the city of Nashik in Maharashtra. It is situated on the banks of the Godavari River, and according to the Ramayana, Lord Rama, Mother Sita and Lakshmana spent some time here during their exile, hence Panchavati holds special religious significance. The name Panchavati means "garden of five banyan trees". The place is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. The major attractions here are Ramkund — a famous ghat for holy bathing, and Sita Guha, where Mother Sita is believed to have resided.
"The Godavari River flows south at Ramkund in Panchavati, Nashik. The Kumbh Mela is held here every 12 years. This place holds immense significance as Lord Ramchandra performed the Shraddha of King Dasharatha at this place. It is also believed that the sin of killing Brahma on Mahadev was removed by bathing in Ramkund."

The Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple located here is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and has great religious significance. The city is situated at the foot of the Brahmagiri mountain, from which the holy Godavari river originates. The Shivalinga in the Trimbakeshwar temple represents the form of three faces (Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh), which is a characteristic feature of this temple. The temple is designed in the Hemadpanthi architectural style and is considered to be very beautiful and historical.
