Tripindi Shraddha

Multi-Day (3 Days)

Importance

Tripindi Shraddha is a sacred three-day Hindu ceremony performed to bring peace to three generations of ancestors — father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. This ritual is especially important when regular Shraddha has not been performed for the departed, or when the family experiences unexplained obstacles that may be linked to ancestral displeasure.

At Ramkund on the Godavari River in Panchavati, Nashik, Tripindi Shraddha is performed with exceptional power due to the sacred nature of the location — the same spot where Lord Rama performed the Shraddha of King Dasharatha.

Why Tripindi Shraddha is Performed

  • Unperformed Rituals: When regular annual Shraddha has been missed for any reason
  • Family Obstacles: Recurring problems in health, career, marriage, or finances
  • Ancestral Displeasure: When ancestors are not at peace due to unfulfilled duties
  • Karmic Resolution: To resolve unresolved karma from past generations
  • Peace for Three Souls: To nourish and liberate the souls of three generations

Three-Day Tripindi Procedure

  1. Day 1 — Pind Daan for Father: The ceremony begins with Sankalpa (sacred vow) and Pind Daan dedicated to the father (Pitaji). Rice balls are offered with specific Vedic mantras to nourish the soul.
  2. Day 2 — Pind Daan for Grandfather: Pind Daan is performed for the grandfather (Dadaji). Tarpan (water offering) is done with Gangajal to quench the thirst of the ancestral souls.
  3. Day 3 — Pind Daan for Great-Grandfather: Pind Daan for the great-grandfather (Par-Dadaji). A grand Havan is performed, followed by Pind Visarjan (immersion of rice balls) in the Godavari. The ceremony concludes with Shanti Path.
